Ball Plungers-spring-Loaded Devices(SLD)
A spring-loaded device encapsulates a spring into its hollow body. With a plunger tip on one end, 
spring loaded devices allow for accurate and repeatable end forces. A spring plunger is not a bolt or a screw.  It is a small piston that provides its users the possibility to lock, position, secure or fasten another part.

SLD is a device that adds value to a spring by encapsulating it in a body and providing a plunger pin or ball on one end—enabling accurate and repeatable end forces.

Typical uses include: positioning, indexing, locating, ejecting, locking, latching, detents, contacts, lifters and insulators.

Overview of Ball Plungers
A ball plunger is a type of SLDs that's characterized by the use of a ball at the top. 
When pressure is applied, the ball sinks, thus compressing the enclosed spring. When pressure is removed, 
the compressive forces of the spring push the ball back up to its original position.

Another common type of SLD is a spring plunger. 
Technically speaking, a ball plunger is a type of spring plunger. The difference is that spring plungers don’t feature a ball at the top. 
Instead, they have a plunger- or pin-styled nose. Spring plungers still contain a spring within a threaded body, and they still contain a slotted drive at the bottom. 
Rather than a ball at the top, spring plungers have a narrow pin or plunger.
